A Franco-Flemish tapestry panel
First half of the 16th century. Probably Tournai. Woven in silk and wool with figures representing the three persons of the Trinity above a female saint holding a clock and, below, four fallen horses and further figures. A fragment of a scroll bearing the incomplete word ‘Etern’… to the upper right hand corner. The elements of the design of the current tapestry are paralleled by those in the Apocalypse, Los Honores, and the Triumphs of Petrarch tapestries woven in Tournai and Brussels during the same period.
