A pair of 18th century embroidered hangings
England, circa 1700-1720.
The linen ground worked in worsted chain stitch with ho-ho birds and peacocks amid exotic fruits and flowers issuing from curving vines.
The V & A has several textiles of the same type, among them accession no. 1474 to C-1902 & accession no. T.352&A-1971 .
Each 183cm (72”) high and 250cm (98½”) wide.
