An embroidered frieze panel
Circa 1680-1710. Italian, or Iberian peninsula.
Worked in couched floss silk, with French knots, on a plain weave linen ground. A carnation on a blue stem tied with a bow and issuing vines, flowers and leaves over an ivory ground with an integral blue border. One end left unfinished, with elements of the drawn design remaining visible.
50cm (19⅝”) high and 223cm (87¾”) wide.
