A pair of pilaster hangings

Italian or Spanish, circa 1680

The cloth of gold ground consisting of gold lamella threads against woven yellow silk, with rosettes and strapwork in appliquéd burgundy silk velvet edged with couched gold thread, stitched through a linen backing.

Each 136 cm (53½”) high and 54 cm (21¼”) wide.
