An early 18th century English embroidered cushion cover
Circa 1700-1720.
Finely embroidered in silk in various stitches, including backstitch, stem stitch and satin stitch, with rows of blue and magenta flowers, and yellow leaves and curling vines, around a central oval with flowering stems issuing from a rosette, and similar quartered ovals to each corner, flat quilted onto a fine linen ground and coarser linen backing.
